History on Marijuana 101

May 9, 2010

Many people smoke marijuana every day, but no many know its history. I’ve decided to give a history lesson on marijuana.

A website, www.thinkquest.com has helped me find the answers to marijuana and its early beginnings.

The site says, “Marijuana was first found in China around 4000 B.C. They first used it for hemp fiber to make rope. They grew the marijuana plant to make hemp. They would beat the plant with stone beaters to make hemp fiber, then they would twist it to make rope. Hemp has been found in Egyptian tombs. Greeks and Romans also used hemp rope. The Romans took it to Europe.”

The site also talks about how marijuana found its way to the United States. The pilgrims brought the marijuana plant to the New World to make hemp rope. Smoking of marijuana wasn’t introduced to the United States until the 1920’s, when it was brought to the U.S. from Mexico. It was recommended for a variety ofdisordersand was listed as an official drug in 1937.

This is a bit of a learning excercise for any pot smoker our there. You might as well know the history of what your smoking.

Always remeber the only drug problem is finding good ones.
